Bryan Clark is a retired U.S. Army Green Beret who served 25 years in the military, with operational experience spanning Afghanistan, Iraq, and Central and South America. After retiring from military service, he turned to writing as a way to explore the realities of conflict, intelligence work, and the difficult choices made in environments where the line between right and wrong is rarely as clear as it appears.
His debut novel, Mendacity: America’s Best Are Secretly Dwelling Among You, introduced readers to a world of drug trafficking, covert operations, corruption, and clandestine influence. Mendacity Part II: The Seeds of Corruption expanded that world into the aftermath of 9/11, where the global drug trade, terrorism, intelligence operations, and competing agendas begin to intersect in increasingly dangerous ways.
The third installment, Mendacity Part III: The Fourth Pillar, continues that evolution as the consequences of earlier operations collide with a new threat involving missing nuclear material, international terrorism, and corruption reaching deeper into the institutions charged with protecting the country.
Across the series, Clark draws on decades of military experience to bring a grounded perspective to the planning, uncertainty, relationships, and consequences surrounding military and intelligence operations. Rather than treating operational details as scenery or portraying every conflict as a clean contest between heroes and villains, his stories examine the competing interests behind the mission, the people making decisions far from the objective, and the consequences those decisions can set in motion long after an operation ends. His fiction explores loyalty, betrayal, moral compromise, institutional power, and the cost of doing what may be necessary when every available choice carries a consequence.
Beyond his own writing, Clark founded The Mission Brief, a veteran-focused publication created to give veterans a place to share their experiences, reflections, and lessons learned. Through the publication, he encourages honest conversations about military service, the transition to civilian life, and the experiences that can be difficult to explain to those who have never served.
Clark lives in Northern California with his family, where he continues writing the Mendacity series and using storytelling to explore the human realities behind service, conflict, secrecy, and the decisions made in the shadows.
