The Journey
I didn’t always know I’d become a writer. For most of my life, I was focused on a different mission, serving in the U.S. Army, where I spent twenty-five years, much of it as a Green Beret. That journey carried me around the world, through undeclared skirmishes and combat zones, into quiet moments of reflection, and face-to-face with the complexity of what it means to serve, to trust, and to endure.
It was in those moments, after the dust settled, between deployments, or late at night when the noise finally stopped, that the stories began to take shape. Writing became a way to make sense of what I’d seen and done. Fiction gave me space to explore the gray areas: where loyalty meets betrayal, where missions don’t go as planned, and where even the best intentions can twist into something else.
The Mendacity series was born from those experiences, not as a memoir, but as a reflection of truths that are often easier to face through fiction. I write to offer readers more than just a thrill ride. I want to give them something that feels real—gritty, honest, and grounded in the kinds of decisions that rarely come with clean answers, and that most civilians never see.
If you’re drawn to stories with depth, where the action matters, but the people matter more, then my books are for you.
Please enjoy.
Sincerely,
Bryan Clark
